Finally, our fields are going gold. Yep, gold under the vineyards, under the vines, under the fences, under the everything. Our mustard flower is finally starting to bloom. I've been waiting all winter. Yeah, because it marks the beginning of a new year in a way that anybody who cares about food, really you should excuse the expression, relishes.
Mustard flower was planted by the Spanish settlers who came here for a number of reasons. The biggest one, besides nourishing the ground, was to give hope to everyone who had lived through a hard cold winter. Ours has been wet. Ours has been crazy. Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
