Waiting for the water to boil, the goat to blat its kid, the delivery to arrive. This is the time of the year where a lot of us are watching the stone fruit. We got through the blossoms and onto the leaves and there have been some warm days and there have been some storms but nothing serious, nothing that would knock off the blooms or damage the little baby fruits as they're beginning to grow.
It's a wonderful experience to pay attention to talk to your farmers, to see how it's going because every year is a new vintage when it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables and the stone fruit in our region is so delicious. There are so many plums and such choice peaches that we really want to watch where it's going and be there when it lands. Sometimes the farmer has to take off 90% of the fruit to let it grow right. It's just the most delicious thing.
