It's a saga about strawberries. In my own cultural lore, one of the big reasons I moved to Sonoma County 25 plus years ago was because there was a farmer at a farmer's market with the best strawberries I'd ever eaten in my life. I've been going to that farm stand for all this time. The farmer has since past. She was just the best.
But her farmer keeps farming. And so, I wait for spring. I wait for that time when those strawberries are back. Recently, I got my usual Saturday morning four baskets. I share some of them. And I was eating them and thinking, "These are absolutely delicious, but they're different." So the next week I went back and I said, "Sam, are there different varieties in here?" And he said, "Yes, I'm trying a new one. Is it okay?" And I said, "Boy, oh boy. You're a good farmer. These are great." I love strawberries.
Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
