Released in the United States on October 1, 1969, Abbey Road stands among the most beloved latter-day Beatles’ albums. The original album features staples such as “Come Together,” “Here Comes The Sun” and “Something,” the set has just been reissued in deluxe form with a variety of outtakes and demo versions. We’ll hear from the newly-released set as well as music from Ringo Starr’s 1970 album, Sentimental Journey.

We’ll remember legendary drummer Ginger Baker, who died Sunday at age 80 after a lengthy illness. Baker is perhaps best known as the drummer for Cream, featuring Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton. But he was a versatile player who favored jazz and whose musical life saw him collaborating with African music legend Fela Kuti, post-punk icons Public Image Ltd., and space rock outfit Hawkwind. We’ll hear selections from throughout Baker’s career on this episode, including his work with Masters of Reality.

Creedence Clearwater Revival performed at Woodstock on August 16, 1969 but the band’s leader, John Fogerty, blocked the release of the performances for more than 50 years and wanted the group excluded from the popular 1970 Woodstock film. The quartet’s full performance is finally available in the form a live album. Listen for selections from it as well as selections from jazz guitarist John Scolfield’s take on country music, Country For Old Men.
