Classic
jazz from the '20s through the present with a knowledgeable
and passionate host each week:
1st week - Chuck Sher
Chuck
Sher is a well-known Sonoma Co. jazz musician and
internationally-known jazz book publisher. The first
Saturday of each month he shares his amazing jazz
CD collection with KRCB listeners, everything from
Bill Evans to Coltrane, Celia Cruz to John Scofield,
and
featuring the current crop of jazz composers from
Europe and Latin America.
2nd
- Larry Slater (The Jazz MD)
3rd - Maria Marquez
Venezuelan
singer Maria Marquez brings an eclectic bag of musical
choices. A lot of the old, the new and the hard to
find in the Latin & Brazilian Jazz, soul-jazz,
and jazz scenes from around the world ... Maria also
includes local jazz artists in every program.
4th
- Toby Gleason
KRCB-FM
listeners may be familiar with Toby as the host of
our afternoon drive-time NPR News shift, but he's
also a well-known music authority and researcher,
former assistant editor of Rolling Stone Magazine
and manages his father, the last jazz critic and television
producer Ralph J. Gleason's collected works as President
of Jazz Casual Productions, Inc. He is also the radio
and television commercial voice of See's Candies.
Toby brings his considerable knowledge and his personal
memories of jazz music from the '40s through the '70s
to new jazz releases.
